I was subsequently awarded an IRCSET (Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology) scholarship for research in the field of Voice Analysis using Digital Signal Processing. I completed my PhD in Computer Science in University College Cork under this scholarship. My thesis title: "Elicitation Techniques for Speech Under Stress: A Framework for use in a Controlled Environment". My research interests include voice analysis; bio-signals and biometrics; physiological measurement and digital signal processing. My primary research focus is the analysis of emotional speech, particularly speech under stress, using psychophysiological HCI methods such as multi-modal biometric affective feedback.
Specialties: Voice analysis, speech signal processing, biofeedback, emotional response, psychophysiology, brain-controller-interfaces, music technology, singing and vocal signal analysis
Biography
Following the completion of a degree in Computer Science at University College Cork, I obtained my MSc in Music Technology at the University of Limerick, where I was awarded First Class Honours. My thesis title 'Vocal Analysis Tool for Singers', was a software application which analysed the vocal characteristic of vibrato of a singer using Digital Signal Processing techniques.I was subsequently awarded an IRCSET (Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology) scholarship for research in the field of Voice Analysis using Digital Signal Processing. I completed my PhD in Computer Science in University College Cork under this scholarship.
