Biography

I am Lecturer in the School of Applied Social Studies and Academic Lead for the id+ Project (2022 - 2025).  I previously worked in UCC as National Co-ordinator of the GENOVATE Project and Research Officer for SAFE(R)SPACE.  Prior to my employment in UCC, I worked in the third sector for Oxfam UK and in various strategic and frontline roles in housing associations in London and Cardiff.

My teaching and research interests centre of the themes of equality, human rights, gender, migration and the intersection of human rights and social policy with respect to intellectual disability (ID).  I was Academic Lead for the Certificate in Contemporary Living (CCL), an award-winning and innovative programme for students with intellectual disabilities (2012 – 20).

I completed a PhD in the Centre for Disability Law and Policy (NUIG) in 2022 exploring rights to self-determination and community inclusion for adults with intellectual disabilities in day services in the Republic of Ireland.
