Dr Caroline Dalton is currently a lecturer and the 1st year coordinator for the BSc Nursing and Midwifery programmes at the Catherine McAuley School of Nursing and Midwifery, University College Cork (UCC). Previously she developed and coordinated the Postgraduate Diploma in Multiple and Complex Disabilities, at UCC, from 2004-2013. From 2013 to 2018, she was the programme leader for the BSc in Nursing (Intellectual Disability). She currently lectures on the BSc in Nursing (Intellectual Disability) programme and supervises MSc Research students.
She is a registered intellectual disability nurse (RNID), with clinical nursing experience in community support services and as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Behaviour Therapy. She holds Professional Certificates in Behaviour Therapy and Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. She holds a BSc in Nursing, MSc in Learning Disability, and a PhD in the area of end-of-life care.
She is an active member of the Healthcare Ethics and End-of-life Care Research cluster within the School of Nursing and Midwifery and is also actively involved with the All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care. She also continues to engage in research relating to Intellectual Disability, Dementia and Acquired Brain Injury.
