Rosarii is currently a Governor of UCC (2015-2019) Rosarii previously served as Governor (2004-7) on UCC Senior Management Boards & Committees including 'the Quality Promotion Board', Bord na Gaeilge and 'the Buildings/Strategic Planning' Committee.
Academic Qualifications
Rosarii is a UCC and Oxford graduate. Following BA, H.Dip in Ed, and MEd (Hons) at UCC. Rosarii won the prestigious British Council ESRC Scholarship to read for a doctorate at St. Hugh’s College Oxford. Rosarii undertook a Masters in Research Methods (Exeter College, Oxford) winning several Oxford Research &Travel Awards. In 2001, Rosarii was awarded the 'Vice-Chancellor of Oxford Award' for undertaking a doctorate of distinction. She worked as an Education Research Officer at Oxford University. Rosarii went on to win an EU Weiner-Anspach Fellowship to ULB, Brussels, Belgium and was shortlisted for a USA Fulbright Scholarship.
Publications
Rosarii published 5 books on education and global development issues, one of which was launched by the Minister for Trade and Development Joe Costello at a National Conference of the Development Studies Association in 2012. Rosarii is a founder member of the Irish DSAI branch. Her most recent book 'Education in Travelling, Nomadic and Indigenous Cultures:Global Perspectives' (Bloomsbury, London) was launched in September, 2014 by Prof. Spencer of Oxford.
Hobbies/Interests
Rosarii runs marathons for her favourite charity 'Action Lesotho' (www.actionlesotho.ie). Rosarii quips, 'I am a keen marathon runner and having already broken through the challenging 10 hour barrier move forward with a feeling of invincibility!' An avid reader of 'Aesop's Fables', not surprisingly, Rosarii's favourite fable is the tortoise and the hare (not unlike the 'Sminky Shorts' version).
Personal
Rosarii says 'I was fortunate to be brought up in the Midleton area'. 'Sadly', she adds, 'several courses at the nearby and internationally renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School have yet to have the desired effect, as many long suffering dinner guests will testify' . However, like the marathon running, Rosarii is persistent. She is the proud mother of two young and very active children who remain blissfully oblivious to their mother's culinary skills.
