Louise Burgoyne

Biography

I am a Research Officer at the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation.  My primary role is to develop the competitiveness of grant proposals by working with researchers and funding agencies.  I also work in the area of research integrity training and look after the main policy document in relation to responsible conduct of research: The UCC Code of Research Conduct.  My previous roles have included those of Project Manager, Programme Co-ordinator, College Lecturer and Enterprise Development Officer.  I have a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health, an MSc in Marketing and a BA in Applied Psychology.  In addition I have a postgraduate Diploma and a Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.  Recently (summer 2019) I completed a Mini MBA.   

Research Interests

I am now a full time administrator and I remain linked in with my primary research interests which are in Animal Assisted Interventions (AAI) in Health Services, Public Health and Emergency Services.

I am an operational member of the Search & Rescue Dog Association (SARDA) Ireland and the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA)

Teaching Activities

Teaching Interests

Currently I am involved in teaching and dissemination activities related to Research Support Services (grant writing, reviewing, standards, how to find funding).  Together with colleagues in the UCC Library and the Clinical Research Facility I facilitate and co-ordinate training on the UCC Digital Badge in Responsible Conduct in Research.
