Biography
Marie Ryan is a full time economics lecturer at the Centre for Policy Studies, National University of Ireland, Cork. Marie was awarded her Doctorate in Tourism Economics from University of Limerick. Marie completed her BA, Higher Diploma, Master’s degree and Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning at NUI Cork. Marie’s interests lie in the area of social policy, tourism, health economics, and education policy. To date, Marie has five peer-reviewed journals, three working papers, and she has presented at numerous national and international conferences. Marie teaches undergraduate microeconomics and macroeconomics across several disciplines. Marie is currently co-supervising a PhD candidate in the area of housing policy. Marie is also an external examiner at Cork Institute of Technology.Research Interests
Marie's research interests lie in the area of tourism, health and social issues. Having completed her Master's in health economics, her PhD in tourism while she teaches social science students, Marie's research encapsulates all three areas. Marie has published 3 papers from her PhD with a further two working papers near completion.Publications

Teaching Interests
Marie's teaching lies primarily within macroeconomics. Among others, Marie's teaching interests lie in establishing how GDP levels affect living standards in a county, the measurement and trends of different types of poverty, the calculation and diverse levels of global income inequalities, and global health concerns arising from the Millennium Development Goals.Current Postgraduate Students
