Cian O'Murchu


Dr Cian O’Murchu holds an M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry from University College Cork and a Ph.D from the Tyndall Institute. He is a Researcher in the Microsystems Group in Tyndall and has been involved in putting together successful proposals for a large number of EU projects. Co-ordinated Eco2clean FP5 project where a supercritical fluid cleaning tool for environmentally benign photoresist removal methods. Recent work included involvement in EU project E-LIMM working on the development of a commercial e-learning course for operators, technicians and engineers in semiconductor fabrication facilities. Involvement in the MNTEurope consortium which aimed to develop an R&D structure across Europe for research and development in the area of Microsystems technology and the OSIRIS project which looked at models for setting up an ICT research infrastructure. He has coordinated FP7 project ARROWS which resulted in development of a chip scale mass spectrometer for bio and food analysis and is currently coordinating the MANpoewer FP7 project which aims to develop a heart powered pacemaker.
