Biography
Research Interests
Most of my research has been undertaken using primary sources.I have published corpora of inscribed stones of the early Middle Ages from Anglo-Saxon England, Pictland, Cornwall and Munster. In each case, this material has not been collected and published together previously. In each case, I have then published supplements of new material as it was found. This work is on-going.I have also discussed the material in various ways, for example by examining all inscriptions on one sort of object, or from one location, or using one particular formula. This work is also on-going.I have just completed a monograph on the principles of nomenclature in Anglo-Saxon England, with specific reference to female names.
