An enthusiastic audiologist with ten years post qualification experience in both public and private audiology services performing comprehensive and precise audiological assessments on children and adults and fitting digital hearing aids to improve quality of life. Adaptable and relate well to people of all ages and from different backgrounds.

 Description

Practice Education Skills: • Facilitate student competency in audiology clinical skills through a range of teaching methods including role play, simulation, demonstration and problem-based learning. • Prepare students/practice educators for practice education placement through induction programmes. • Co-ordinate supervision of students in collaboration with practice educators.

COURSES: 2015: 1 day CPD course in Dublin ‘Developments in Central Auditory Processing Disorder: Implications for Ireland’; 2015: 1 day CPD course in UCC ‘Anne Parker working with students’ workshop’; 2014: 5 day CPD course in Manchester (Dr. Guy Lightfoot)-‘Electrical Response Audiometry’; 2012: 3 day CPD course in UCC ‘Working with families and parents of newly-identified deaf babies’; 2004: 3 day CPD course in Reading ‘Tinnitus Re-training Therapy’.

Audiological Skills: • Experience in carrying out diagnostic audiology tests for infants, children and adults-including oto-acoustic emissions, brain stem evoked audiometry, visual reinforcement audiometry, play audiometry and speech tests. • Experience in fitting modern digital hearing aids including bone anchored hearing aids and advising on assistive listening devices.

Effective Communication Skills: • Facilitate communication with a range of local/national services in order to develop clinical practice education opportunities. • Facilitate communication between clinicians in service delivery and University-based staff. • Liaise with audiology practice educators in relation to effectiveness of placement and to student progress.

Carried out a comprehensive work project in association with NUIG in 2012- ‘Quality Assurance in the Neonatal Hearing Screening Process’ (10,000 words). This involved the research and implementation of a quality assurance programme in the neonatal screening programme in Galway University Hospital from 2009-2011.
