A Preliminary Study on Self Compacting Concrete using Locally Available Waste Materials

Intelligent reuse of materials are also directly related to the necessity arising from the environmental effects of waste. The reuse of waste materials in concrete is an attempt to address a part of these problems by introducing sustainable materials in the construction industry. Concrete is the second most used material in the construction industry after water. Consequently, the environmental impact, including carbon footprint of concrete is severe. This paper aims to develop normal strength Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) using RHA as a partial replacement of cement whilst maintaining satisfactory properties of self compacting concrete. As a part of the research a preliminary study has been carried out on RHA based SCC to investigate the fresh concrete properties. It is found that the RHA based SCC satisfies the fresh state properties including filling ability, passing ability and segregation resistance. DA - 2011/NaN ER -
