| GeneralContext | Cross shaft fragment. |
| Location | churchyard at Brailsford. |
| Dimensions | 4'5'' high. |
| GeneralDescription | Cross shaft fragment with carvings on it, dated to about the tenth century. |
| GeneralDescription | At the top of this fragment there is a rectangular section, which was the shaft of the cross. This has plait-work on it. |
| GeneralDescription | Two bands of cable moulding mark the division of the two parts of the shaft. |
| GeneralDescription | The lower part was probably the actual foot of the cross. This has a band of random interlace, with volutes and pellets, which encircles the upper portion. This is interrupted by the figure of a warrior holding a sword in his right hand, and he has a small round object in his left, possibly a target. He may have a mail-coat and close cap. There is a bit of plait-work over his right shoulder, which is filling the empty space. |
