Archiving The Social Media Presence of ‘The River-side.

Activity: Talk or presentationOral presentation

Description

Special Collections, Archives and the Institutional Repository in UCC Library share a social media presence, ‘The River-side,’ to communicate information about research collections, projects and events. After six months preparation the blog was started in August 2013 with the Twitter account going live in April 2014. According to the Internet Archive the average life span of a webpage is c.44 days. As the internet is ephemeral the specific URL is less likely to be found thereafter. This paper uses tools from the DPTP programme to investigate possibilities of archiving the social media presence and engagement for both blog and Twitter account.
