Description
Six Place-based community-engaged research workshops that brought together writers, researchers, artists, activist students, and community members to explore the divided city of Nicosia through walking, conversation, reading, and creative practice. Moving across the city's physical and symbolic borders, participants reflected on questions of memory, place, partition, identity, coexistence, and belonging.Through collaborative engagement with urban spaces, histories, and communities, the initiative fostered dialogue across divides and encouraged participants to critically examine dominant narratives of Cyprus while exploring alternative forms of cultural memory and representation. The activity contributed to wider public engagement with issues of partition, mobility, and shared urban heritage and informed subsequent research, publications, and cultural initiatives including Nicosia Beyond Barriers: Voices from a Divided City, as well as Writing Cyprus.
