This module will introduce students to the turbulent and transformative history of Korea in the twentieth and early twenty-first Century: Japanese Colonialism, independence, the Korean War and a divided peninsula, military dictatorships, the road to economic development and democracy in SK, the nuclear issue related to NK and attempts for peace and reconciliation.
