The module provides the opportunity for students to develop their reading and critical skills through close study of a range of Irish, British and American poetry. Students will also advance their own writing skills through weekly craft-based writing assignments, focusing on fundamental concepts in poetry, such as use of imagery, metaphor, narrative, rhyme/rhythm, formal structures etc. and an intensive discussion of the students' own poetry.
