    Description

    Module Goal:
    To teach students about energy systems and how to model them, with applications in energy planning, future scenario analysis, and policymaking. To introduce software packages for energy systems modelling.

    Content:
    Technical, environmental, and economic modelling of energy systems.

    Modelling national energy systems development, mitigation pathways, and decarbonisation targets.

    Scenario and sensitivity analysis to assess uncertainty and key drivers of energy transitions

    Overview of energy systems modelling approaches, including top-down bottom-up and integrated assessment models

    Modelling of power systems including renewable energy sources and power trades.

    Introduction to simulation and optimisation tools such as TIMES, LEAP, MESSAGE or similar software packages
