Description

The first part of the module engages with: the historical, critical and theoretical literatures on im/mobilities and forced migration, including critical race theory, feminist theory, postcolonialism, necropolitics and ecological/environmental analyses; colonisation and post-colonisation, conflict and post conflict; migratory routes/migratory flows; national, European and international legislation. The second part of the module looks at: contemporary debates, for e.g., routes to citizenship; violence and gender-based violence; recognition, home, belonging and unbelonging; refugee law and the governance of asylum and migration; trafficking and sexual trafficking; media and popular cultural representations, The module uses methodological advances to study im/mobilities, including auto/biographical, narrative analysis and walking based pedagogy.
