Description
The Artfictions dataset documents contemporary novels written in Spanish and Portuguese that engage with artistic and visual creativity. Compiled as part of the Irish Research Council (IRC) Laureate Consolidator Project Assessing the Contemporary Art Novel in Spanish and Portuguese, this resource encompasses over 150 works published since 1990 across 24 countries.
Each entry contains metadata including title, author, country, language, publisher, year of publication, and up to five thematic descriptors (e.g., Artistic Education, Digital Culture, Migration, Precariousness). Particular attention has been given to representing small-scale, independent, and alternative presses, highlighting bibliodiversity and the cultural labour of marginalised communities.
The dataset is intended to support literary and cultural analysis, digital humanities projects, comparative and postcolonial studies, and investigations into contemporary artistic imaginaries. It is provided in JSON format and licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0).
