Biography

Ahmed Abdelreheem is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the CONNECT Research Centre, School of Computer Science & Information Technology, University College Cork, where he works under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Zahran. His research sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence and wireless systems, with a particular focus on deep reinforcement learning for Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be) OFDMA scheduling, 6G network optimisation, and GPU-accelerated edge computing for AR/VR applications.

He holds a PhD in Communications Engineering from Aswan University (2019), where his doctoral work on Device-to-Device Communications in mmWave 5G Cellular Networks was recognised with the Best Thesis Award. He also maintains a research affiliation with South Valley University in Egypt, where he previously served in an academic capacity leading graduate research on 5G PHY-layer optimisation, beamforming, and machine learning for wireless systems.

Ahmed brings over a decade of combined academic and industry experience. Before his research career, he spent six years as a Senior RF & Network Systems Engineer at Telecom Egypt (2009–2015), leading nationwide GPON/FTTx broadband deployments, 4G LTE RF acceptance and optimisation, and CDMA core network operations across carrier-grade infrastructure serving millions of subscribers. This industry grounding shapes his current approach: bridging theoretical research and production-grade system implementation, with an emphasis on carrier-ready, deployable solutions.

His current work focuses on designing agentic AI schedulers — including PPO, Deep Sets, and Rainbow DQN architectures — for real-time PHY/MAC decision-making on NVIDIA Jetson and GPU-accelerated platforms, as well as exploring commercialisation pathways for AI-driven Wi-Fi orchestration in industrial robotics and enterprise networking.
