Biography

Dr Ann Kirby is an Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics, Cork University Business School, UCC. Her principal research interests are in Health Economics and Economic Evaluations. Ann has a sustained and consistent record of publications and has led and contributed to research projects that have secured collectively over ~€8m in funding both nationally and internationally with commissioned research undertaken for example for the Health Innovation Hub, Glaxco SmithKline (GSK), and MSD Oncology. She has worked on projects in collaboration with Marymount Hospice and Breakthrough Cancer Research (the impact of telehealth in palliative care), the Mercy University Hospital (cost analysis of Warfarin and a RCT on mobility amongst the elderly) and Cork University Hospital (effects of NOACs on cardioversion use and costs for patients with Atrial Fibrillation). She has completed a series of analyses on the anticoagulant prescribing landscape in Ireland in conjunction with the Department of General Practice in UCC. Currently she is completing further research in the area of cancer having secured funding from Breakthrough Cancer Research, Horizon 2025 and Research Ireland
