Research Interests

Collaboration and primary care; Interdisciplinary Education; Motivational Interviewing in healthcare settings ; Positive Psychology (Mindfulness meditation / Prevention programmes). My research interest lies within the general area of human interaction and relationships, focusing specifically on understanding the processes of collaboration among healthcare professional groups. I am particularly interested in how groups construct their identities and culture.  This interest has grown out of my experience as a counselling psychologist working for over three decades within a healthcare group, now a primary care team.

Teaching Activities

My teaching interests lie at the intersection between social, health, and positive psychology. In particular I am interested in human relationships with a particular focus on: the experience of collaborating, understanding "self and identity", mindfulness and health care change (motivational interviewing).

Current teaching areas include: Social perspectives on psychology; Psychology for healthcare and communication skills (Interdisciplinary Module taught with colleagues from School of Nursing and Midwifery); Motivational interviewing skills for coaches / coaching psychologists (as part of Cognitive enhancement and motivational interviewing strategies for change module taught with my colleague Dr. Annalisa Setti, School of Applied Psychology).
