Biography

Anthony is Dean and Chair of Human Resource Management at the Cork University Business School (CUBS), University College Cork, Ireland. As Dean he leads a team of over 150 academic and professional staff to deliver on our school’s mission to cultivate an inclusive environment where knowledge thrives through impactful research and learning and in working together, we develop the future leaders to transform business for the advancement of a more sustainable society for all.

Prior to joining UCC in November 2016, he was Head of the Management Group and Reader in Management at Queen's University Belfast, and he has also held appointments at the University of South Australia and University of Newcastle (Australia). Anthony is past Chair of the Irish Academy of Management and previous Editor-in-Chief of Human Resource Management Journal (HRMJ).

Anthony has a global reputation in the HRM community as a prolific research scholar and leader. Anthony's research expertise and interests reside in international human resource management, talent management and the future of work. His research has been funded by the Australian Research Council and Irish Research Council, and Ireland Canada University Foundation. A previous winner of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management Early Career Researcher Award, his research track record is notable by over 100 publications including papers in the world’s best journals, authored and edited books and chapters, research awards, competitive funding successes, alongside a global network of collaborators. Anthony currently sits on the editorial advisory boards of the Journal of World Business, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Employee Relations: the International Journal, and European Journal of International Management.

Research Interests

Work is central to one’s identity and well-being and my research contributes to understanding the evolving world of work together with its implications for workers and organisations. I am committed to pursuing research that can contribute to more human-centric, effective and sustainable organisations.

My research is primarily centred around four domains; talent management, international/global HRM; algorithmic HRM, and the future of work.
