Ariel Domlyn

I am a Clinical-Community Psychologist (PhD) and Medical Anthropologist (MA), current fellow with the Implementation Research Institute at Washington University in St. Louis, a graduate of the VA Quality Scholars Program, and a former scholar with the SmartState Center for Healthcare Quality. 

Since 2012 I have been continuously funded by both research and external organization with partners such as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Thailand Ministry of Health, US Department of Defense, Satcher Health Leadership Institute, and Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).

From 2023-2025 I was a Core Research Investigator with the VA Center for Clinical Management Research (CCMR). While there, I was mPI for the MIDAS QUERI Center, an implementation center running multisite hybrid implementation-effectivess trials and conducting evaluation and implementation projects throughout the VA Healthcare System. I was also mPI for the LEAP Training Hub, a quality improvement training and mentorship program for front-line healthcare professionals. As co-investigator, I led the implementation science effort of the HSR Suicide Prevention Research Impact Network (SPRINT) Core and was a mentor and trainer with the newly funded Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) Learning Hub. I remain a member of the ten-person CFIR Leadership Team, a collaborative stewarding education, research, and appropriate use one of the most used implementation frameworks in the world. 

In 2025, I transitioned to a managerial role at the CUH/UCC Cancer Centre at Cork University Hospital and am affiliated with Cancer Research @ UCC at the University College Cork. I continue to advise as an expert methodological consultant on grant applications, student dissertations, and projects spanning health services, social services, and educational institutions.

I trained as a clinical psychologist and retain licensure for independent practice in the US state of North Carolina. My clinical expertise is in assessment, health psychology, PTSD, emotion dysregulation, and climate anxiety. 

As a methodologist with a multidisciplinary background, my professional goal is to optimize healthcare service delivery and prevention programs. I apply implementation science frameworks and mixed methods to enhance intervention development, delivery, and sustainment in healthcare, education, and social service organizations. 

My expertise lies in implementation science, participatory and qualitative methods, program evaluation, mental health, health equity, systems thinking, community-based partnerships, and quality improvement. Key contributions are the development and refinement of implementation methods particularly for organizational readiness, maturity models, implementation mapping, the Interactive Systems Framework, Delphi studies, and CFIR.
