Biography

Barbara Siller is Senior Lecturer in the Department of German (https://www.ucc.ie/en/german/) within the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. She earned her MA degree in German and Romance Literature and Linguistics at the Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck in Austria and at the L’ Università dell’Aquila in Italy. After five years as an OEK-Lecturer in the Department of German / University College Cork she carried out her IRCHSS-funded PhD study in Trinity College Dublin (Germanic Studies) which she completed in 2011 (supervisors Prof. Juergen Barkhoff & Prof. Peter Arnds). Upon 3 years of postdoctoral research at the research institute Brenner-Archiv / University of Innsbruck, she took on the role of Lecturer in German Studies and the Director of MA Applied Linguistics in University College Cork in 2016.

Barbara Siller is the co-convenor of the Cluster 'Rethinking Spatial Humanities' (http://casilac.ie/rethinking-spatial-humanities/) together with Dr Silvia Ross, Giulia Bernuzzi and Dr. Charlotte Berkery.

She's the Action Chair of the EU COST Action Literary multilingualism and social transformations in superdiverse societies Action CA24137 - COST (2025-2029).https://www.cost.eu/actions/CA24137/
