I am Senior Lecturer in the Department of German (https://www.ucc.ie/en/german/) within the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures and is the Head of Department of German (2026-2029)

Since November 2025 I've been leading the EU COST Action Literary multilingualism and social transformations in superdiverse societies Action CA24137 - COST (2025-2029).https://www.cost.eu/actions/CA24137/

With more than 370 members currently, this research network aims at mainstreaming multilingualism within research, education and the wider society within Europe and beyond. Since our current societies are becoming more and more multilingual, this aspect needs to be reflected in the various sectors.

Within our School I'm one of the co-convenors of the Cluster 'Rethinking Spatial Humanities' (http://casilac.ie/rethinking-spatial-humanities/) together with Dr Silvia Ross and Giulia Bernuzzi.

I've earned my MA degree in German and Romance Literature and Linguistics at the Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck in Austria and at the L’ Università dell’Aquila in Italy. After five years as an OEK-Lecturer in the Department of German / University College Cork I carried out my IRCHSS-funded PhD study in Trinity College Dublin (Germanic Studies) which I completed in 2011 (supervisors Prof. Juergen Barkhoff & Prof. Peter Arnds). Upon 3 years of postdoctoral research at the research institute Brenner-Archiv / University of Innsbruck, I took on the role of Lecturer in German Studies and the Director of MA Applied Linguistics in University College Cork in 2016, where I've been researching and lecturing since.
