Biography

Dr. Brenda Long is a Senior Research Fellow in the Materials Chemistry and Analysis Group (MCAG) in the School of Chemistry at University College Cork. She obtained her Ph.D in 2003 from University College Dublin after which she completed 6 years of postdoctoral research at the University of Ferrara, Italy (2003-2004); Massachusetts Institute of Technology, US (2004-2007); and the University of Birmingham in the UK (2008). She has worked as a researcher in various projects funded by the European Framework Programme (FP5, FP6 and FP7), Science Foundation Ireland and the National Science Foundation (US). She is currently a Principle Investigator on a number of Enterprise Ireland Innovation Partnership funded programmes with companies such as Applied Materials and Lam Research.
