Biography

Dr Brendan Noonan is a Senior Lecturer and Vice Dean of Undergraduate Education at University College Cork.  His research focuses on cancer survivorship and supportive care, with particular emphasis on understanding and improving quality of life, psychosocial wellbeing and long-term outcomes for people living with and beyond cancer.  Dr Noonan has recognised expertise in qualitative research, employing methodologies such as in-depth interviews, focus groups, and intepretive and thematic approaches to explore the lived experience, meaning-making, and patient and family perspectives across the cancer continium. His research work is grounded in patient-centred and participatory principles that plays a central role in informing the design of responsive, evidence based survivorship interventions, services and policy. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. As an educator and academic leader, Dr Noonan is deeply committed to teaching for learning, with a focus on active and inclusive pedagogy, constructive alignment and assessment for learning. In his role as Vice Dean of Undergraduate Education, he provides startegic leadership in curriculum development, educational innovation, and quality enhancement across undergraduate programmes at UCC.
