Personal profile
Biography
I am a Lecturer in Occupational Health within the APHEA-accredited School of Public Health. I am affiliated with the Sustainability Institute at University College Cork (UCC). My PhD was in human thermoregulation in an extreme hot-dry environment. At UCC, I lecture on the IOSH-accredited MSc in Occupational Health programme (https://www.ucc.ie/en/ckx50/) and within the School, I developed a module on Environmental Health (https://www.ucc.ie/en/eh6140/). I have a research interest in climate change and human health having published and developed teaching materials in this area. Before coming to UCC, I was working at the University of Cape Town in South Africa and I am passionate about pursuing research that alleviates the burden of those most vulnerable. In my work, I aim to advance the Sustainable Development Goals as evidenced by my recent publication. I advocate for climate action that provides co-benefits to the environment, human health and society.
