Biography
Dr. Clíodhna MacKenzie is a Management, Leadership and Human Resource Management Lecturer in the department of Management & Marketing at Cork University Business School at University College Cork. Clíodhna has previously acted as Co-Program Director of the Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management and MSc in Human Resource Management. She has also previously held the role of Academic Director of Management, Leadership and Strategy courses for the Adult Continuing Education (ACE) centre at UCC.
Dr MacKenzie’s key research focuses on the application of feminist theory, Foucauldian feminist theory and post feminist agency to better understand the dynamics associated with fertility in the workplace and the role of the firm (and its leaders), State actors (government agencies), and the influence of socio-cultural/socio-political forces impacting on policy decisions surrounding the role of women in the workplace and society. Dr MacKenzie also applies upper echelons theory, social identity theory and narcissistic leadership to explore the dark side of leaders and organizations with a specific focus on the Banking and Finance sector when it comes to recidivistic corporate illegality. This research is focused on developing an AI (ML) engine to help ‘identify’ instances of potentially illegal firm activity prior to regulatory intervention. More recently, Dr MacKenzie has been incorporating the toxic triangle to better understand the Trump administrations Executive Order to dismantle diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and the impact this will have on organizations operating in the US, Ireland and the EU when it comes to vulnerable minority cohorts in the workplace, e.g., LGBTQ+ and those with intersectional identities. Dr MacKenzie’s research aligns with UCC Futures thematic areas of Collective Social Futures, and Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics and incorporates UN SDGs 5, 8, 9, 10 & 16 into her research endeavours.
