Biography

Having received the Gold Medal for academic excellence in the B.E. examinations of 1989, Colin graduated with an M.Eng.Sc. (in the area of modelling of microwave transformers) in 1991. Having worked in various engineering research and teaching roles, in July of 1997, he was appointed as a College Lecturer in Digital Communications in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, UCC, a post he holds to date. Colin received his Ph.D. (in the area of wavelet packet modulation analysis) in December of 2006. Current research interests encompass signal processing for cooperative and non-cooperative cognitive radios, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) weak signal acquisition and tracking for location service applications, bit error rate estimation techniques and wavelet packet modulation.
