As a self-confessed visual thinker (placing a great value in taxonomical thinking) I work to the adage that if you can’t draw it, you don’t understand it!

My applied research interests focus on visual theorising (seeing the opportunity in organisational data [master data and transactional data] using a relational data modelling mindset) and, more recently, in designing a ‘Human-AI’ approach to grounded theorising.

As the co-designer of several discursive templates (Data Value Map; Data Opportunity Canvas, and “Show Me, Show Me” Matrix) I frequently engage with industry to shape their strategic ambitions and use of data/analytics.

I embrace a hermeneutics-inspired ‘learning-by-doing’ pedagogical approach. This approach espouses a complementary learning approach through incorporating reading (research articles), drawing (the design artefact), talking (in-class presentations about the design artefact) to enable learners to seek clarity, find voice, and build confidence during their learning process.
