Personal profile

Biography

I am a University Language Teacher in the Department of German within the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at University College Cork (UCC). I have held this position since July 2018, with a period of leave from January 2025 to August 2026, during which I worked as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (Research Associate) at the Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU). I resumed my role at UCC in September 2026. Prior to this, I served as a Lecturer of the Austrian Academic Exchange Service (OeAD) at UCC from August 2015 to June 2018.

Research Interests

My research interests span two closely related areas: foreign language pedagogy and multilingualism in education. Within foreign language education, my work focuses on teacher cognition research, specifically on the network of teachers' beliefs, emotions and identity, and a particular interest in how teachers’ life capital shapes their professional practice and development. My PhD research, which I successfully defended in October 2026, is grounded in reflexive approaches and draws on narrative inquiry as a methodological framework for exploring educational experiences, identities, emotions and beliefs. I am also interested in performative approaches to language teaching and learning, as well as multilingual pedagogies in non-language subjects. More broadly, I explore how multilingualism can be engaged with critically and reflectively across educational contexts.

Teaching Activities

Over the years, I have contributed to and taught various modules in UCC. The core of these modules currently spans the following:
