Biography

Work: She is a Senior Programme Coordinator, designs, lectures and coordinates the CPD Cert in Advocacy, the CPD Cert in Neurodiversity in the Screen Industry, the CPD Cert in Neurodiversity in the Arts and Creative Sectors, the CPD Cert in Neurodiversity in the Workplace and the CPD Cert in Wellbeing Coordination in the Arts and Creative Sectors. She also has lectured and guest lectured for a number of colleges/universities: Limerick Writers Centre, Limerick College of Further Education, Hibernia College Dublin, IADT Dún Laoghaire, University College Dublin, Technical University of the Shannon and Maynooth University. She lectures in the fields of Disability and Media: policy, practice, law, advocacy, philosophy, autism, neurodiversity, advocacy & representation. She previously supervised final year students' dissertations on the Professional Masters in Education (Primary/Post Primary) with Hibernia college, and was a member of their Ethics committee. She is involved in projects across the UK and Europe in training and resources for the Media.

Disability: Eleanor co-founded the Special Needs Parents Association of Ireland with 6 other parents in 2010 & represented over 57,000 in 2020. Roles: vice-chair, policy officer, social media creator/moderator & Executive member. She has worked with & represented other disability groups both nationally/locally in the media. She is also a well-known mental health & disability rights activist.

Arts & Media: 20 yrs a freelance journalist & commentator - national and local media, filmmaker & a multi-shortlisted scriptwriter, co-found the Limerick Arts & Culture Exchange (county Arts Rep Org) – Rep Limerick's local authority's Strategic Policy committee-achievements on SPC: Limerick Film Bursary, Film in Limerick website. 

She is currently a member of Coimisiún na Meán's Gender, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy committee.

Teaching Activities

My teaching areas of interest are: Disability and autism policy, practice, law; all forms of advocacy, representation of autism and disability, political philosophy, History of autism, neurodiversity - particularly in the arts, creative industries and screen industry. Also film, culture, journalism and creative writing.
