Biography

I’m a Senior Research Fellow with over 15 years experience on energy systems modelling, energy innovation and climate policy analysis. I'm a School Fellow at the School of Engineering where I teach a module on Energy Innovation.

My research and teaching cover four broad areas:
1. Modelling policy pathways to a sustainable energy system (I have published many paper on this topic and I’m co-PI of the CAPACITY project supporting the Irish Government with technical analysis https://www.ucc.ie/en/epmg/research/capacity/
2. Energy systems innovation (I teach a module in the UCC School of Engineering on energy innovation which incorporates socio-technical frameworks, innovation economics and innovation systems)
3. Users, diffusion, and participatory approaches (some of my recent research has focussed on understanding the role of users in the diffusion of energy technologies. I also regularly organise mock COP events and other participatory workshops https://www.ucc.ie/en/epmg/news/mock-cop30-simulation-in-university-college-cork.html
4. Transdisciplinary & creative approaches (I work with many different academic disciplines and artists to better understand the methods and practices of serious play and creativity to address many of the grand challenges and wicked problems our societies face today).
