I am a linguist and my main area of expertise is translation, not into or from a particular language but as the intersection where linguistic, cultural, subject and subjective knowledges (to mention just a few) blend, enabling meaningful interpersonal communication and expanding our social imagination. I think of literary translations as works of literary and performance art. I am interested in exploring how knowledge hegemonies and literary landscapes are formed and can be reformed. I believe in critical thinking and empathy as powerful human tools to co-create the universe we live in. In my work, I attempt to help students develop critical linguistic skills, so they can continue the work of challenging knowledge hegemonies and expanding the social imagination. 'Creative' AI, literary translation employing neural machine translation, the concept of knowledge translation, are the current bees in my bonnet. I am also interesting in the relationship between sustainability and personal accountability.
