Biography
Helena O’Connor works as e-learning co-ordinator in Adult Continuing Education with research interest in online learning for adult learners. She previously worked as programme coordinator across blended and distance learning diploma and degree programmes. She holds a BSc (Food Business), MSc (Sustainable Development), Post graduate certificate and diploma (Teaching & Learning) (All UCC) and has recently completed an MA in Technical Communication and E-Learning (UL 2018, award pending). Prior to returning to education to undertake a primary degree in 1999, she worked for 15 years in the food sector.
Research Interests
Her research interests include: the research area of sustainable development; particularly impacts and approaches in rural areas and in the agriculture and food sector pedagogical approaches for adult learners, adult learners as online learners, universal design of learning and accessibility to and for education.
Teaching Activities
Helena has a post graduate diploma in teaching and learning (NFQ Level 9) and teaches across fulltime students and extensively across part time, adult learners, distance learning, online and at outreach in sustainable development, rural development, food business. community development, social enterprises, inclusion and accessibility.
