Biography
Isabelle Coonan is a research assistant in the Department of General Practice in UCC. She has previously worked as a research assistant in the School of Public Health in UCC. Her research in the Department of General Practice involves a qualitative study of healthcare professionals opinions of anti-amyloid therapies for early stage dementia, a scoping review on healthcare system preparedness for anti-amyloid therapies, along with a an e-Delphi and modified nominal group technique study to co-design a dementia referral template as part of the PRIMED project. The project is funded by a Health Research Board (HRB) grant awarded to the principal investigator, Prof Tony Foley.
Isabelle was awarded a BSc in Public Health Sciences from UCC in 2023, and a Masters of Public Health (MPH) specializing in Health Protection in 2024. Her MPH dissertation focused on alcohol-related trends in consumption, hospitalisations and deaths in Ireland before implementation of Minimum Unit Pricing. She has presented her dissertation at the HSE Integrating Evidence and Action: Shaping the Future of Alcohol Research Conference in November 2024, and the SPhERE Network 11th Annual Conference in March 2025. Isabelle has previously worked as a research assistant in the Health Implementation Research Hub in the School of Public Health, UCC, looking at an evaluation of an implementation science training course, and working on a Cochrane systematic review on tailoring.
Research Interests
Research interests include dementia and Alzheimer's disease, public health, health protection, general practice, public and patient involvement (PPI), health literacy.
