Research Interests

My background is in plant systematics. I study the historical biogeography of plants in a range of different biomes throughout the tropics. The work describes how plants have adapted to geological and climatic changes in the past giving an indication of how they might adapt to future change. Recent work has focused on plants related to Theobroma cacao, the source of chocolate. Details of this research program can be found at the CacaoWiRe website.
