Biography

Dr Jenna Dittmar is a Biological Anthropologist who specializes in paleopathology (the study of ancient diseases). Her research employes an interdisciplinary approach that combines osteological, archaeological, and documentary evidence to explore the impact of social and environmental conditions on human health and demography.

Alongside this, she pursues experimental work on skeletal trauma to explore the factors that impact the presentation of skeletal injuries, and how these may impact our interpretation of injury patterns in archaeological assemblages.

She welcomes enquiries from prospective PhD students with interests in bioarchaeology, palaeopathology and related areas.
