Biography

Prof Mark Tangney BSc, PhD, MBA iEd Hub - Head CancerResearch@UCC - Principal Investigator APC Microbiome Ireland - Senior Investigator - Connecting Industry & Academia: Together with leading industries in the Health & Life Sciences sector, we co-design and deliver novel postgraduate programmes that develop the future leaders of this sector. Programmes focus on operations and management, coupled with relevant technical skills. http://iedhub.ie - Research interests include associations between bacteria and cancer, development of microbes as therapeutics, in silico protein design and microbiome. Worked for a number of years at various international institutions (Los Angeles, Boston, Copenhagen) and published extensively in the fields of bacterial engineering, microbiome and cancer.

Research Interests

'BioEngineering next generation biomedical products': Primary focus is the development of novel technologies (therapeutic and diagnostic) for use in cancer medicine. Research is translational and commercially focused, and developed by our team of international scientists and clinicians skilled in cancer research, synthetic biology and bioinformatics. Teaching Activities

- iEd Hub: The iEd Hub is an educational consortium featuring the Cork region’s universities, enterprise stakeholders and leading industries in the Health & Life Sciences sector. Together, the partners co-design and deliver novel postgraduate programmes that develop the future leaders of this sector. Programmes focus on operations and management, coupled with relevant technical skills.
