Research Interests

Dr. Feller's research is focused on various forms of technology enabled open phenomena such as open innovation, open source software, open source hardware/design, open content, crowdsourcing, crowdfunding, etc. At present (2012-), he is Principal Investigator of the Technology-Enabled Organizational Transparency and Openness (TOTO) research project hosted funded by a grant from The Lewis Charitable Foundation (California, USA). The objective of the TOTO project is to conduct original research and to provide scholarly resources and thought-leadership to the global multi-disciplinary research community investigating technology-enabled organizational transparency and openness. His prior research projects include:Open Code, Content and Commerce (O3C) Business Models (2007-2010), a research project investigating open production, innovation and value creation strategies funded by the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences.CALIBRE (2004-2006), an EU FP6 Co-ordination Action project designed to establish a European industry open source software research policy forum; foster the effective transfer open source best practice to European industry; and integrate and coordinate European open source software research and practice. The project was funded by the European Commission Information Society Technologies (IST) priority.pKADS (2003-2004), a software development project designed to provide the UNFPA with a shareable desktop knowledge management tool. pKADS was officially launched by BIS, UNFPA and the DCMNR on December 10, 2003 at the World Summit of the Information Society in Geneva, Switzerland.
