Personal profile
Biography
Since joining UCC in 2005, I have worked within the Coastal and Marine Governance group on research addressing climate change adaptation, Marine Spatial Planning (MSP), and the implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), with a particular focus on Descriptor 10 (Marine Litter) and Descriptor 11 (Underwater Noise).
I have extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, science communication, group facilitation, and outreach and dissemination, developed through my involvement in numerous internationally funded projects. These skills have been strengthened by leading communication, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement work packages in research initiatives focused on marine litter and underwater noise.
My most recent work includes coordinating the Horizon Europe funded SOS-ZEROPOL2030 project, which addresses multiple forms of marine pollution, including nutrient input, hazardous substances, underwater noise, and microplastics and features case studies on PFAS and tyre wear particles across European Regional Seas.
