Biography

Keerthi Nair, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral researcher in the Precision Electrochemical Nanosensor (PEN) Group at the Tyndall National Institute. Her current work focuses on the development of microchip-based sensing platforms for real-time, on-site monitoring of trihalomethanes (THMs) in water systems, in collaboration with industry partners. Her expertise spans nanomaterial synthesis, sensor fabrication, and electrochemical performance evaluation.

She completed her Ph.D. at Atlantic Technological University, where she developed advanced functional nanomaterials for the treatment of contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in wastewater. She has authored 12 peer-reviewed publications and two book chapters, and has received recognition including the RSC Researcher Development and Travel Grant.

Keerthi is the recipient of the 2025 Dervilla Donnelly Postgraduate Award from the Institute of Chemistry of Ireland, recognising exceptional PhD research achievements and contributions to advancing chemistry within the academic community.

Beyond research, she is an active contributor to the Current Chemistry Investigators (CCI) programme, a collaborative initiative involving Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, ATU Sligo, and Tyndall. Through this programme, she delivered interactive workshops on analytical chemistry and electrochemistry to over 25 secondary schools, engaged more than 2,000 participants through large-scale public outreach events, and demonstrated strong capabilities in stakeholder engagement, scientific communication, and event coordination.

She holds an integrated BS–MS in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram, India, and is an active member of the Tyndall EDI Committee.
