Biography

Dr Klaas-Jan Stol is Professor of Software Engineering with the School of Computer Science and Information Technology at University College Cork, Ireland. His research focuses on contemporary trends in software engineering including software development approaches (agile, Inner Source, GenAI), and social processes of software professionals, such as onboarding in hybrid work settings. Klaas has led a team of several PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, funded by a number of grants from Science Foundation Ireland and industry. Klaas currently serves as Vice-Head of the School of CSIT. Previously Klaas was a Research Fellow with Lero - the Irish Software Research Centre, where he remains active as a Funded Investigator. He received a PhD from the University of Limerick, a MSc from the University of Groningen, and a B.ICT from the Hanzehogeschool Groningen.
