Biography
Lorraine is a Lecturer in the School of Education at University College Cork, where she brings professional and educational experience to her teaching and research.
In her current role, she contributes to the Professional Master of Education (PME) programme, co-teaching on the ED6362 Designing Curriculum and Assessment for the Contemporary Classroom (Year 2) module and the Pedagogy of Business Studies modules (Year 1 and Year 2). As a PME School Placement Tutor, she supports and mentors student teachers in their journey toward becoming reflective and effective educators. She also co-teaches the Conceptual Foundations in Curriculum and Assessment module on the BEd Gaeilge, BEd Science and BEd Sports Science undergraduate programmes.
Prior to her appointment to the School of Education, Lorraine was a post-primary teacher from 2008 - 2024. She taught Business, Economics, History, and Geography at senior cycle and Business Studies, History, Geography, CSPE, and Religious Education at junior cycle. During this time, she was appointed to a variety of leadership positions, including Acting Deputy Principal, Year Head, Junior Cycle Network Manager, and AEN Co-ordinator. These roles afforded her the opportunity to develop expertise in school leadership, curriculum development, and inclusive education, which now inform her contributions to teacher education at UCC. Preceding her work in education, Lorraine was employed in the financial services sector.
