Biography

I am a Psychology graduate of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland (MA, 1995), and of the Department of Human Communication Science, University College London (PhD, 2001). From 2001 until 2011 I was a lecturer at Department of Human Communication Sciences, University of Sheffield, where I contributed to a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, particularly in Speech and Language Therapy. I joined the UCC in January 2011.

Research Interests

EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY, especially self-directed education (unschooling, democratic schools).

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS. NEURODIVERSITY

LITERACY, especially reading and writing development, reading and writing instruction, as well as reading and writing difficulties: their mechanisms, assessment and therapy.

ANXIETY DISORDERS, especially selective mutism.

ORAL LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT, oral language difficulties.
