Biography

Mari O' Connor is a lecturer in the Department of Economics and a founding member and research associate in the Spatial and Regional Economics Research Centre (SRERC). Mari was awarded her PhD from Queen's University Belfast in 2017. She holds a Masters in Business Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Cork.

Mari's research interests lies in the field of the economics of innovation, specifically green/eco-innovation, firm innovation and open innovation, regional economics and entrepreneurship. Her published work has explored the role of entrepreneurship among developing and developed countries, the role of open innovation in determining firm performance, innovation within firms, as well as sustainable regional economic development. As a member of the Spatial and Regional Economics Research Centre, Mari was part of the team that received an award for University College Cork Research Team of the Year in 2020 and the College of Business and Law Research Team of the Year in 2019.
