Personal profile

Biography

Wellbeing economist and ID+ Fellow at Cork University Business School with 15 years experience in higher education, research, and policy development. My work explores the intersection of health economics, financial wellbeing, and education innovation, with particular emphasis on measurement and policy impact.

As former Programme Director of BCom International (380 students) and BSc International Business with Languages (540 students), I champion universal design and inclusive pedagogy to help all learners realise their potential. This dedication was recognised with UCC President's Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (2023) and the Cork University Business School Teaching Excellence Award (2025).

My research portfolio spans 70+ academic works, associated with over €1.3 million euro in competitive funding. Currently, as Principal Investigator, I lead RADIUS, a digital inclusion and regional policy analytics project funded (€220,000), alongside a SATLE-funded initiative examining ethical AI integration in higher education. I also serve as Co-PI on a HRB ILCT application (€450,000), as workpage lead on a Horizon THCS healthcare grant (€2.9 million), contribute as steering committee member and report co-author on an additional HRB grant (€510,000) on Health Impact Assessment and act as advisor on a consultancy team for Cork City Council's (€180,000) Economic Strategy 2025–2040 tender. Collectively, this work addresses multiple dimensions of community and individual wellbeing.

International collaboration is central to my practice.  From 2016 to 2021, I held teaching-focused positions as Associate Professor and Teaching Fellow at Middle Eastern institutions including DCU at PNU Riyadh and Alasala Colleges in Saudi Arabia, roles that prioritised pedagogical development and curriculum design over research output. I supervise PhD and Master's students from Saudi Arabia, France, and China, and serve as a reviewer for high-impact journals including Review of Educational Research (IF: 8.3), Gender, Work and Organisation (IF: 3.0), Cogent Business and Management (I.F 2.9), Journal of Entrepreneurship and Public Policy (IF: 2.1), among others. My research has been featured by RTE (Editor's Pick), The Examiner, Advance HE, QQI, and the HEA National Forum, extending wellbeing economics impact beyond traditional academic channels into policy and practice.
