Biography
Dr Mark Jessopp is a Senior Lecturer in Zoology in the School of Biological, Earth & Environmental Science, UCC. Mark is a marine biologist with a wide array of research experience, having worked on phytoplankton, zooplankton, marine mammals, and seabirds. Mark completed his BSc (Hons) in Zoology at the University of Melbourne, Australia, and PhD at University College Cork, Ireland. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher for a number of years before joining the School of BEES in 2018. Current research effort focuses on the role of seals and seabirds in the marine ecosystem through diet and telemetry studies.
Research Interests
A wide variety of research interests under the broad umbrella of Marine Ecology and Conservation, Distribution and abundance of seabirds and marine mammals, Population monitoring, Citizen science, Foraging ecology of seabirds and seals.
