Biography
Martha Phelan is a Research Systems and Reporting Officer at the Office of Vice President for Research & Innovation (OVPRI), University College Cork. In this role, Martha supports the delivery of Goal 1 of UCC’s Strategic Plan (2023–2028), focusing on the implementation of the UCC Futures Framework. Martha leads research reporting initiatives and supports the rollout of the new Research Information System. She facilitates stakeholder engagement and ensures cohesive delivery of institutional objectives, fostering collaboration across the university. Her work drives innovative approaches to maximise the impact of research and innovation at UCC.
Martha’s professional background in research management and administration, project coordination, customer service technical administration, community engagement, agricultural sustainability is underpinned by multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary academic experience through a M.Ed., PGDip., B.Sc., B.A., and Green Certificate in Agriculture reinforcing her commitment to research excellence and impact. Her professional experiences have resulted in transferable skills: digital literary, learning agility, data & analytics proficiency, innovative approach, critical thinking, lifelong learning mindset, teamwork & collaboration, leadership, time management, and communication skills. A native of County Waterford, and now living in Mallow, Co. Cork, Martha enjoys tillage farming part-time with her husband and getting involved in extracurricular activities at UCC Staff Book Club and UCC PRAXIS Global Citizenship Education.
