Research Interests
A significant portion of my research is devoted to the scholarship of teaching and learning in Digital Humanities. My recent papers are on gaming in history education, the use of asynchronous online discussion tools to support learning, and interdisciplinarity
Teaching Activities
There are two main threads to my teaching. One is games in learning for which I teach modules at undergrad and postgrad level on game design, both digital and non-digital games. I have used game design as an assessment in modules in history and international relations since 2008, as well as designing CYOA games for teaching in other disciplines. The other is digital workflows and tools which developed logically for a long term interest in historical methods and primary source digitisation. Recent papers look at the relationships between scholarly ontologies, personal knowledge management and digital tools.
